WILLIAM L. WOOD, JR., graduated from Brown University with a B.A. degree in 1962 and from Yale University School of Law with a J.D. degree in 1965.

As Executive Director of the New York State Office of Professional Discipline (OPD), Mr. Wood was in charge of the agency that investigated and prosecuted cases of professional misconduct against all those licensed to practice a profession by the New York State Board of Regents. Prior to appointment as Executive Director of OPD, Mr. Wood was head of the Bureau in the Office of the New York State Attorney General which at that time prosecuted all professional misconduct cases and handled all appeals for court review of those cases.

During this period of government service, Mr. Wood was called on to testify before committees of the United States Congress and personally drafted New York State legislation that provided a mechanism for helping licensed professionals who were impaired by drugs or alcohol in a non-punitive manner.

Mr. Wood's law practice now consists of the representation and defense of physicians and other licensed professionals facing regulatory or disciplinary proceedings initiated by the Office of Professional Medical Conduct, governmental agencies and hospitals.
